The transition into the body of your call is to tell the caller what you look like. Go past your profile picture and really paint a picture of yourself for the caller. If the caller can envision you standing in front of them, they will stay on the call longer.
Do not give up your control by asking the caller’s permission to give your description. By doing so you are giving the caller an opportunity to tell you “no”.
Example:
“Close your eyes. I want you to see every detail of me… listen to only my voice…I am…”
For additional call preparation: Write 3 ways in which you could tell the caller that you are about to give your description. Do not write your description.
It is imperative that you ask the caller where he is, thus allowing for you to further transition into the call. Knowing where the caller is helps you to go where he is, bring him to where you are, or take him into fantasy.
Example:
“John, are you home or at the office?”
Write down where the caller is calling from, ie home or office, next to their name so you can continue to reference it during the call.
Starting a conversation after giving your description is easy; simply ask a general question as a starting point.
Example:
Are you going out later tonight?
What do you like to do for fun?
What are your plans for the weekend?
For additional call preparation: List 3 more general questions you can ask to caller to start conversation.
