What you’ll need to become a Talker

OK, so you’ve decided that becoming a phone sex operator is right up your alley.  Great now what?

Well before you go jumping in with both feet, it might be a good idea to see if you’re prepared for the job at hand.  In this post I’m going to outline some basic essentials that you’ll need to start your business as a Phone Sex Operator (PSO).

Let’s break this down into sections listing both required items and optional items that will make your business easier to run.

And now onto our list!

Required Equipment:

• A phone and a phone number.  This goes without saying, but you will need a phone to become a PSO.  While you can most likely get away with using a cell phone, a hard wired land line is your best bet.  This way you won’t have to worry about bad reception, signal loss, dead batteries, or outages.  You should also consider getting a line with no call waiting, forwarding or answering services.  many companies will require this anyway, so you might as well buck up and do it right from the start.
• A Computer.  That’s right, you need a computer to work as a PSO.  Whichever company you work for, they will require you to login to their systems via computer to track your calls, monitor your availability, provide you with stats, and much more.  Besides a computer is useful for marketing yourself, and creating accounts on Phone Sex websites like TalkToMe.com.
• A high-speed Internet connection.  While I’ve seen PSO’s use slow modem connections, it just doesn’t make sense in this day and age.  A good reliable high speed Internet connection will save you hours of frustration, and allow you the ability to work much faster, saving you time and money.
• Web or HTML editing software.  You’ll want to have some way of designing web pages to help you promote yourself.  Hiring someome to do this work can be very costly, so learning how to do it yourself is a good idea.  If you already know how to code in HTML, you can use a basic text editor.  If you are not familiar with HTML or webdesing, then something more robust would be required such as DreamWeaver.
• Photo editing software.  Again, to help promote yourself, you’ll need to upload photos to entice your customers.  Basic photo editing software will be essential for this.  There are free photo editors available on-line, or you can splurge on any number of well know packages such as Photoshop.

Optional Equipment:

• A digital Camera.  If you plan on uploading your actual photos, then having a good digital camera is a must.  Many PSO’s purchase photo sets to maintain their anonymity and security, while others proudly show themselves.  If you are an attractive woman, and don’t mind being seen on the internet this is a good marketing strategy, as man like to see photos of real women.  An alternative to a digital camera is hiring a photographer, which can get expensive quickly.
• A webcam.  More an more phone sex sites are incorporating webcams into their business models.  If you don’t mind showing yourself on camera for the viewing pleasure of your patrons, this is another outlet for making money.  This obviously isn’t for everyone, but if you think this would work for you a webcam is essential.
• A phone headset.  While not required, having a good quality phone headset will make your life easier.  It allows you the freedom to move around and keeps your hands free for other uses.  If you do get a headset, be sure to get a good quality one.  Cheap ones don’t last long, and they aren’t as comfortable as the higher quality headsets.
